Corporate Philanthropy

Corporate Giving Program

At Thornburg Investment Management, we focus, quite simply, on helping investors reach their long-term financial goals. And it’s vitally important to us that we adhere to the core Thornburg values that have guided us since our 1982 founding. One of those values is being community minded. We believe in supporting our local communities by giving to a wide range of non-profit organizations — and by encouraging Thornburg employees to volunteer with those that make a difference in their community.

The Thornburg philanthropic program assists charitable organizations that meet specific Thornburg objectives, including arts and culture, education, social services and other areas that enrich people’s lives. Mr. Thornburg leads the Thornburg Corporate Giving Program; he was awarded Journal Santa Fe’s 2010 Philanthropist of the Year Award in recognition of his dedication, and in 2013, he was awarded the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Lifetime Achievement Award.

Educational Program

We recognize the importance of youth education and give a significant portion of our philanthropic dollars to K-12 public and private schools in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and to out-of-state schools attended by children of Thornburg employees. Through the Educational Program Fund, donations are used to fund much-needed music and arts programs, to purchase items for classroom projects, and to supply books for school libraries.

Dollars for Doers Program

Thornburg’s philanthropy reaches beyond writing checks; we encourage volunteerism. Many of our employees donate time and talent to work with nonprofit organizations and communities. Thornburg contributes to non-religious 501(c)(3) organizations in which an employee serves as a board member or to which he or she contributes forty hours per year of uncompensated labor. We are proud of our employees’ dedication to their communities.
